- Colonial Williamsburg - see the orientation film "Story of a Patriot", then

- Governor's Palace - residence of seven British governors
- Carter's Grove Plantation - overlooking the James River, this is a great example of
early Virginia architecture
- Jamestown settlement - original site of the first permanent English settlement
- Yorktown - site of the last important conflict in the War for Independence fought in
1781
